‘Orphan: First Kill’: Isabelle Fuhrman is Esther Once More in This Bloody Photo from the Set

orphan prequel

As we learned just about a month ago, Orphan star Isabelle Fuhrman will be reprising the role of Esther in a prequel to Jaume Collet-Serra’s 2009 film that’s currently titled Orphan: First Kill, with a “combination of forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team” (via Deadline) being used to allow the 23 year old actress to play the character again.

It was back in 2009 that Fuhrman brought Esther to the screen, who looked to be a child but was actually revealed to be a murderous 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer.

Filming is getting set to wrap on Orphan: First Kill, and Fuhram has taken to Instagram to give us our first look at the return of Esther courtesy of a behind the scenes shot from the set.

Not surprisingly, she’s once again covered in the blood of her victims…

In the film, “Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.”

Julia Stiles has also joined the cast, Deadline recently let us know, with William Brent Bell (The Boy) directing the Orphan follow-up film. David Coggeshall wrote the script.

The project comes from Dark Castle Entertainment and Entertainment One.

New ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Movie in the Works from Director Lindsey Anderson Beer

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
