Latest Bloody Disgusting and Dark Star Horror Film Revealed in Free Virtual Film Festival Next Weekend!

This spring, Dark Star Pictures and Bloody Disgusting head to the backwoods with Honeydew starring Sawyer Spielberg in his feature acting debut. But that’s just the beginning! We’ve also acquired a certain gross-out midnight horror movie that we’ll be revealing as part of a special virtual film festival set to introduce you to Dark Star’s most excellent catalog. 

The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news on the completely FREE groundbreaking weekend event taking place next Friday, January 22 through Sunday, January 24, 2021, celebrating Dark Star’s most recent acclaimed international genre offerings.

The lineup will feature selections from Sundance, Fantasia, Nightstream, and Cinepocalypse, including PVT CHAT, Koko-Di Koko-Da, Jumbo, Attack of the Demons, Dirty God, and Climate of the Hunter!

The festival will lead up to an announcement and special one-time-only secret screening of the latest acquisition from Dark Star Pictures and Bloody Disgusting’s new collab brand.

The secret screening will be available on the screening portal on Saturday, January 23rd at 6 p.m., and available to stream for 24 hours.

HOW TO WATCH: The films will be screened on Eventive, supporting many different web browsers and with dedicated apps available on Apple TV and Roku devices. The features can also be streamed directly to your television via Chromecast.


As a welcome to 2021 for horror enthusiasts, Dark Star Pictures will screen the following films plus the secret acquisition to be unveiled:

Attack of The Demons

Honeydew is described as an A24 film meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Dark Star and Bloody Disgusting plan to release the film in theaters March 2021, with a VOD/Digital release and DVD to follow in April. The slasher was written and directed by Devereux Milburn.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
