‘Abraham’s Boys’: Natasha Kermani to Direct Joe Hill’s “Dracula” Spinoff!

After a successful festival run with her indie Lucky (pictured above), filmmaker Natasha Kermani will next adapt and direct Abraham’s Boys, based on Joe Hill’s (“Locke & Key”) short story that acts as a follow-up to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, says Deadline.

“The plot follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing who know nothing of their father Abraham’s past, and cannot understand his overprotective attitude and strange behaviour.

“To make matters worse, Abraham Van Helsing is becoming increasingly more unhinged, paranoid, and violent.”

The site notes that “Kermani’s adaptation is set to explore the boys’ trauma through the eyes of a young Asian woman who is no stranger to death.”

“I’ve always loved Bram Stoker’s Dracula and was immediately drawn to Joe Hill’s unique and personal take on the legend of Van Helsing,” said Kermani. “Abraham’s Boys is an exciting opportunity to look at a familiar story through a new lens, and to explore classic characters and themes in a contemporary way.”

It hails from 47 Meters Down outfit Tea Shop Productions.

Dan Stevens is everywhere lately, from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to Abigail and the upcoming Cuckoo. We’re not complaining. Up next? He’s starring in horror movie The Ritual.

Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have both joined the cast of the upcoming exorcism horror movie from XYZ Films and director David Midell, Variety reports this afternoon.

Based on a true story, the film “follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.”

Variety details, “The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”

David Midell and Enrico Natale wrote the screenplay for The Ritual.

XYZ Films is planning to release the horror film theatrically in 2025.
