‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Rated PG-13 for “Intense Action” and “Some Violence”

Jurassic World: Dominion will open wide in theaters on June 10, 2022, which means we’re just about six months away from the franchise’s anticipated return to the big screen.

While we wait, Dominion has officially received its “PG-13” rating from the MPA today, the very same rating all previous films in the Jurassic Park/World franchise have received.

Jurassic World: Dominion is rated PG-13 for…

“Intense sequences of action, some violence and language.”

How does that compare to the PG-13 ratings of the five previous films in the franchise? Well, it’s interesting to note that this is the first of the Jurassic films to not have its violence classified as “science fiction,” but rather just plain old “violence.” It’s also the very first Jurassic movie to feature what the MPA classifies as “language,” it’s also worth noting.

Here’s the full breakdown for the franchise…

Jurassic Park (1993)
Rated PG-13 for intense science fiction terror.

Lost World: Jurassic Park, The (1997)
Rated PG-13 for intense sci-fi terror and violence.

Jurassic Park III (2001)
Rated PG-13 for intense sci-fi terror and violence.

Jurassic World (2015)
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril.

Jurassic World: Dominion (2021)
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action, some violence and language.

Dominion‘s cast includes familiar and new faces such as Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Dichen Lachman, Mamoudou AthieDeWanda Wise and Scott Haze.

Plot details are still under wraps, but Fallen Kingdom promised a sequel wherein the dinosaurs are now on the mainland… and humans are falling to the bottom of the food chain.

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
