‘Paranormal Activity’ Producer Joins Balaji Motion Pictures for Slate of Indian Horror Movies
Balaji Motion Pictures, Dark Hell and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity) have joined forces for a brand new Indian horror-based venture, Variety reports this afternoon.
Variety notes, “Under the terms of the deal, a slate of high-concept films in the thriller-horror genre will be produced in Hindi and other Indian languages jointly by the three entities. Details of the projects under this association have not yet been revealed, but they are expected to ‘cater to the audiences of the South-East Asian markets in India and overseas.'”
Balaji Motion Pictures’s Ekta Kapoor said, “At Balaji Motion Pictures, our aim is to continue telling genre-bending stories which connect with the viewers. I am elated for this association, and I’m certain to be bringing together the best of cross-cultural content to the Indian diaspora. Such an opportunity helps us expand our reach to markets and audiences not tapped before, and this collaboration is of mutual ideas and intent.”
Schneider added, “This deal is a landmark for me and us as a team. India is an exciting market always known to put forth current and revolutionary content across genres. I’m looking forward to working with Ekta and Armaan, and together, we are certain to bring forth stories that are waiting to be told and heard.”
In addition to the Paranormal Activity movies, Steven Schneider has also produced Insidious, The Lords of Salem, The Houses October Built, The Visit, Glass, Old, and Pet Sematary.

New Line’s ‘Companion’ from ‘Barbarian’ Team Has Been Rated “R” for “Strong Violence” & “Sexual Content”
From New Line Cinema and producer Zach Cregger (Director: Barbarian) comes the upcoming sci-fi/horror movie Companion, which has officially received its “R” rating this week.
Companion has been rated “R” by the MPA for…
“Strong violence, sexual content, and language throughout.”
The film’s cast includes Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets,” The Boogeyman) alongside Rupert Friend (Separation), Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Lukas Gage (“You”), Megan Suri (It Lives Inside), and Jack Quaid (Scream, “The Boys”).
Described as a sci-fi/horror movie, Companion will mark the directorial debut of Drew Hancock, who also wrote the script. At this time, plot details are under wraps.
