Orphan 3 - Isabelle Fuhrman

Coming along 13 years after the first movie, brand new prequel Orphan: First Kill arrived in limited theaters last weekend, releasing on Digital and streaming on Paramount+ at the very same time. The movie was released in just 498 theaters in its debut weekend, scaring up $1.7 million, and this past weekend it was expanded to 557 total domestic theaters.

Orphan: First Kill added roughly around $1 million to its domestic total over the weekend, with the well-reviewed prequel’s domestic take now hitting $3,324,000 in theaters.

Worldwide, Orphan: First Kill currently sits at $6,303,641. Back in 2009, with a proper release and no day-and-date streaming rollout, Orphan legged its way to $77.9 million worldwide.

We don’t know how well Orphan: First Kill is doing on Paramount+ or Digital, as those numbers are rarely provided, but the film’s critical reception has been strong across the board.

Will we be seeing more Esther down the road? Anything is possible…

Isabelle Fuhrman is reprising the role of Esther thanks to clever production trickery, and William Brent Bell (The Boy, Separation) stepped into the director’s chair for First Kill.

“Esther’s terrifying saga continues in this thrilling prequel to the original and shocking horror hit, Orphan. After orchestrating a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility, Esther travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family.

“Yet, an unexpected twist arises that pits her against a mother who will protect her family from the murderous “child” at any cost.”

Rossif Sutherland and Julia Stiles star alongside Isabelle Fuhrman.

David Coggeshall (“Scream: The TV Series”) wrote the script.

Orphan: First Kill is rated “R” for bloody violence, language and brief sexual content, so you can expect to see Esther bash in some heads. The film’s official runtime is listed at 99 minutes.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
