#XCastingCall: A24 Announces Online Competition to Appear in Ti West’s ‘MaXXXine’

Announced this week, Ti West completes his X trilogy with the upcoming MaXXXine, a sequel to this year’s slasher X that will come along in the wake of prequel movie Pearl this weekend.

Confused? Don’t be! Set in the 1970s, X was the first movie in the franchise, while Pearl is a prequel that takes place in 1918. As for MaXXXine, it follows the events of X in the 1980s.

Now that you’re all caught up to speed, A24 wants to invite YOU to become a part of the X Universe, with a casting call being launched that could win you an appearance in MaXXXine!

To apply…

  • Fans must reenact the final standoff between Pearl and Maxine in X
  • Participants should submit their audition on TikTok, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #XCastingCall
  • Submissions must be received by September 28th, 2022 at 11:59pm ET

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
