Happy Valentine’s Day! You might not expect the horror genre to have a very strong showing on a day like this one, but the genre’s bloody heart just never seems to stop beating.

In fact, SIX brand new horror movies just released for Valentine’s Day!

From Takashi Shimizu, the visionary creator of The Grudge franchise, comes brand new supernatural horror film Ox-Head Village, which is now streaming on SCREAMBOX!

In the horror movie, “After watching a viral video, a woman, who believes that she’s the twin of one of the participants, decides to investigate the town where the video was shot.”

A SCREAMBOX Original,Ox-Head Village screened at numerous international festivals including the New York Asian Film Festival and Fantaspoa Film Festival.

Kôki (Touch), Riku Hagiwara (Three Sisters of Tenmasou) and Haruka Imô (Kamen Rider Black Sun) star. The film presents a sinister mystery with a supernatural twist.

Takashi Shimizu’s Suicide Forest Village is also now streaming on SCREAMBOX.

Director Carter Smith (The Ruins) is back with Swallowed, a “slimy, wild queer horror movie” that was also released on Digital and VOD outlets today, February 14th.

In the film from Momentum Pictures, “After a drug run goes bad, two friends must survive a nightmarish ordeal of drugs, bugs and horrific intimacy in this body-horror thriller.”

Jena Malone (The Ruins, Neon Demon), Mark Patton (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge), Cooper Koch (Blumhouse’s They/Them), and debuting talent Jose Colon star.

We were told last year, “Dripping with blood and pus, Swallowed is queer body horror with all the naked flesh and shocking violations of a classic midnight movie.”

Carter Smith wrote and directed Swallowed.

Brandon Cronenberg‘s (Antiviral, Possessor) new movie Infinity Pool was released exclusively in theaters courtesy of NEON last month, but when can you watch the film at home?

As a surprise Valentine’s Day treat, NEON has put Infinity Pool up for grabs at home today, the film now available for Digital purchase on outlets including Amazon for $14.99.

Mia Goth (Pearl) stars alongside Alexander Skarsgård (The Northman).

In the film, “While staying at an isolated island resort, James (Alexander Skarsgård) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: “Either you’ll be executed, or, if you’re rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead.”

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting, “While more accessible and linear than the filmmaker’s previous effort, it’s no less compelling, audacious, and extremely violent.”

“Cronenberg merges body horror and sexuality in increasingly bizarre, hallucinatory ways that push the boundaries of the film’s R-rating,” Meagan’s review continues.

It’s set to be an insanely bloody Valentine’s Day this year, with Well Go USA unleashing the ultra-violent Project Wolf Hunting on Digital, Blu-ray & DVD today, February 14.

Project Wolf Hunting, which Dread Central hailed as “one of the goriest films we’re getting this year,” will also be available for SCREAMBOX and Hi-YAH! subscribers exclusively to stream beginning May 15, 2023.

The film is explosively fun, a high-octane beast of a splatterfest that’s jam-packed with midnight chaos from broken bones to exploding heads.

In the film, “While under heavily armed guard, the dangerous convicts aboard a cargo ship unite in a coordinated escape attempt that soon escalates into a bloody, all-out riot. The SXSW genre-bender Jethica premiered on Cinedigm’s indie discovery platform Fandor today, which will be followed by an exclusive window on Cinedigm’s horror streaming service SCREAMBOX. Variety hailed Jethica as an “ingenious, deadpan horror-satire.”

In the film, Jessica lives in fear of a man named Kevin who follows her everywhere she goes. While on a road trip in New Mexico, she reconnects with Elena—an old friend she hasn’t seen since high school—who has been hiding out at her deceased grandmother’s ranch. When Kevin mysteriously appears again, Jessica and Elena seek help from beyond the grave to get rid of him for good… but Kevin is different from other stalkers and won’t move on so easily.

Well received by critics and audiences, the film has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has screened at festivals around the world including SXSW, Busan, Overlook, Maryland, Filmfort, Germany’s B3 Biennial, and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival—where it received a Special Jury Award.

Hailed by Indiewire as “a rising filmmaker well worth the attention,” Jethica director Pete Ohs (Youngstown, Everything Beautiful Is Far Away) has created “a distinctive funny-sad look at alienation and the extreme desire for companionship in the middle of an empty world.”

Jethica is co-written by Ohs in collaboration with stars Callie Hernandez (Under the Silver Lake), Ashley Denise Robinson (The Beta Test), Andy Faulkner (Youngstown), and Will Madden (The Wolf of Snow Hollow) who plays “Kevin.”

The beast is back in Medusa’s Venom, the follow-up to the recent snake horror movie Medusa, and it has just been unleashed today across the US and Canada on Digital outlets.

Medusa’s Venom tells the story of newcomer Lola, who is welcomed into Medusa’s circle and endures a powerful ritual that will bring her closer to her new sisters; however what awaits is more influential and dangerous than she ever imagined, awakening the serpent within her.
