Toho made the MASSIVE announcement late last year that a brand new installment in their most popular film franchise is coming soon, and today brings a bit more information.
Toho’s next movie is titled Godzilla Minus One, we’ve officially learned today!
Watch the official teaser trailer below to preview the big guy’s big return…
Gormaru reports, “The first Japanese-produced Godzilla film since Shin Godzilla will debut in Japan on November 3, 2023 and will get a theatrical release in the US on December 1.”
“Set in a post-war Japan, Godzilla Minus One will once again show us a Godzilla that is a terrifying and overwhelming force, which you already get a sense of from the teaser trailer and poster,” Koji Ueda, President of Toho International, said in a statement this afternoon.
The statement continued, “The concept is that Japan, which had already been devastated by the war, faces a new threat with Godzilla, bringing the country into the ‘minus.’”
As we learned last year, Takashi Yamazaki (Lupin III: The First) is directing the new movie, which will be the 30th live action film in Toho’s long-running kaiju franchise.
Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
Just launched earlier this month, Pluto TV is now streaming a 24/7 Godzilla Channel, which features a wealth of classic movies including films you won’t find on any other platform!
