Indiegogo Campaign for ‘Resident Evil’ Fan Film ‘The Keeper’s Diary: A Biohazard Story’ Starring Charlie Kraslavsky Now Live [Trailer]

It’s been a long time coming, but the crowdfunding campaign for the Resident Evil fan film The Keeper’s Diary: A Biohazard Story from director/producer Andrew Saullo is now live. The 30-day campaign has already garnered several contributions to its $40,000 USD goal.

Inspired by the original Resident Evil and its 2002 remake, The Keeper’s Diary is an adaptation of the diary entry of the same name found in the Spencer Mansion. It summarizes a researcher (played by Charlie Kraslavsky, who played Chris Redfield in the live-action cutscenes in Resident Evil) succumbing to a viral outbreak in an underground research facility. The film will also feature the talents of Ward E. Sexton, aka that guy who did the “Resident Evil” voiceover when you started a new game.

Over on the campaign’s official page, Saullo goes into great detail about the project, which is currently in its pre-production stage. Production is slated to start in October/early November in Michigan, with production wrapping and post production beginning at the end of the year. The eventual release of the fan film (for free on the Residence of Evil YouTube Channel) is aiming for Q4 2023 – Q1 2024, which is also when the contribution perks will be released.

To date, all works (including the various videos such as Resident Evil: Resurrection and the cast reunion shorts) have been self-funded through Andrew Saullo. In order for the full vision of Saullo and company to be realized with The Keeper’s Diary, they’ve turned to the community for help. “We understand that shooting a film is not cheap, and we have balanced being realistic and what is achievable, which is reflected in our budget.”

And as is the norm for these crowdfunding events, there are plenty of perks for those who contribute specific amounts. They range from “special thanks” in the film’s credits and signed posters, to even getting associate and executive producer credits.

While there are currently no stretch goals at the moment, the team is potentially looking at adding them as the campaign goes on. While it’s still currently being discussed, there is an idea for a cast hangout for the first stretch goal, and potentially a premiere of the film in a centralized US location.
