Ghosts of the Void trailer

Writer/Director Jason Miller’s feature debut, Ghosts of the Void, presents a haunting look the American Dream or, more accurately, the fragility of it. A brand new trailer gives a closer look at the grim horror.

Ghosts of the Void releases on Digital and VOD on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

In the film, “Jen and Tyler used to have it all: a solid marriage, a nice home, and careers that promised a bright future. But when Tyler’s drinking problem worsens, and his writer’s block continues, the debt collectors show no mercy, forcing the couple out of their home and into their car. Beyond stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed with feelings of failure, Jen and Tyler park their car in a vacant lot, hoping to get a good night’s sleep before dealing with the realities of tomorrow. However, their sleep becomes interrupted by homeless passersby, mischievous local kids, and eventually, ominous strangers in harrowing masks.”

Watch the trailer below to meet Jen and Tyler at their lowest, before a nightmarish encounter threatens to make their lives even worse.

Tedra Millan and Michael Reagan star.

I wrote in my capsule review of the film out of Popcorn Frights, “Miller seeks to challenge perceptions and dangles hope through Jen, though don’t look for escapism in this bleak, reality-based horror entry,” and, “confident direction ensures a handsomely shot debut, though one that devastates.”

In other words, don’t expect to find comfort in this assured debut.

Ghosts of the Void is produced by Seth Savoy, Mike Ware, and Tony Kamin. Executive producers include Cory Coken, Bryen Hensley, Anthony Marchese, Jamie Vanadia, Edward Weil, Ted Reilly, Mark Glassgow, and Kelly Waller, with cinematography by Nathan Salter. The film was edited by Brendan Jamieson and composed by Devin Delaney. It’s a Speakeasy Films production.

‘Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare’ – First Image from ‘Poohniverse’ Horror Movie

The filmmakers behind Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey are expanding their public domain horror universe with a handful of upcoming “Poohniverse” movies, including Bambi: The ReckoningPinocchio: Unstrung, and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare.

Variety has scored the first image from Neverland Nightmare, seen above.

The website details, “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare follows Wendy Darling as she strikes out in an attempt to rescue her brother Michael from ‘the clutches of the evil Peter Pan.’ Along the way she meets Tinkerbell, who in this twisted version of the story will be seen taking heroine, convinced that it’s pixie dust.”

Scott Jeffrey will direct Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, expected Halloween 2024.

Jeffrey tells us, “I am taking inspiration from French cinema while in prep for this movie. The film will be incredibly tense. I would say it’s a mesh between Switchblade Romance and The Black Phone with our own spin on it. It is a nasty, violent and incredibly dark movie.”

Megan Placito has joined the cast as Wendy Darling, Kit Green is Tinkerbell, Peter DeSouza-Feighoney (The Pope’s Exorcist) is Michael Darling and Charity Kase (RuPaul Drag Race) is James. Martin Portlock will be playing the twisted version of Peter Pan.

Created by J.M. Barrie way back in 1902, the character of Peter Pan – like Winnie the Pooh – is in the public domain, even if the iconic Disney iteration of the character is very much not.
