Sasquatch Sunset

Bleecker Street has acquired U.S. rights to Sasquatch Sunset, the mysterious new feature from renowned filmmakers David and Nathan Zellner (Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter), Deadline reports today.

Riley Keough (The Lodge), Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland: Double Tap, Vivarium), Nathan Zellner (Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter), and Christophe Zajac-Denek (“Twin Peaks: The Return”) star in the film.

As for plot, details remain scarce at this time other than it’s described as “a year in the life of a singular family.”

What we do know is that Eisenberg is playing a Sasquatch. As in, a head to toe hairy cryptid.

In a recent interview with Variety, the actor teased that he’d be going full cryptid in Sasquatch Sunset. “I play a Sasquatch: full makeup, full body hair, no lines. I grunt, but no lines,” he told the outlet. “I’m so looking forward to this.”

That seems to hint toward the possibility of this film following the life of a Sasquatch family, supported by the first image released (above). Does this mean that Riley Keough may also be playing a Sasquatch? We can’t wait to find out.

The Zellner Brothers have long been fans of Bigfoot, having previously helmed Sundance award-winning short film “Sasquatch Birth Journal 2” in 2010. More recently, the filmmakers directed three episodes of the genre-bending, acclaimed Showtime series “The Curse,” which is airing its first season currently.

As if that’s not intriguing enough, Sasquatch Sunset is executive produced by Beau is Afraid director Ari Aster.

Riley Keough and Gina Gammell executive produce under their Felix Culpa Banner. The film is a Square Peg, ZBI, and The Space Program production and produced by Lars Knudsen, Tyler Campellone, Nathan Zellner, David Zellner, George Rush, Jesse Eisenberg, and David Harari.

Bleecker Street will release Sasquatch Sunset theatrically in 2024. Stay tuned for additional details on the project as they arrive.
