Invaders from Proxima B trailer

“Midnight Mass” and “The Fall of the House of Usher” actor Samantha Sloyan is set to star in upcoming sci-fi comedy Invaders from Proxima B. Variety reports today that the sci-fi comedy has been acquired by Buffalo 8.

Sloyan will star opposite director/star Ward Roberts (“Westworld,” “Agents of SHIELD”).

In Invaders from Proxima B, “after a wise-cracking alien named Chuck (Roberts) crashes in the backyard, the Jankins family (Roberts, Sloyan) teams up with their new otherworldly friend to battle a dangerous array of pursuers.”

Mike C. Nelson (“Shrinking,” “Black-ish”), Richard Riehle (“Office Space,” “Casino”), Jeremiah Birkett (“Black Cake,” “Euphoria”) and Sarah Lassez (“Nowhere,” “Lo”) also star.

Not only is Roberts directing from his own script and starring in what appears to be multiple roles, but the filmmaker also produced under his Drexel Box Productions outfit alongside Mike C. Nelson.

Buffalo 8’s Nikki Stier Justice said of the acquisition “’Invaders from Proxima B’ is a cinematic delight that Buffalo 8 is excited to bring home to audiences. It delivers a fresh and hilarious take on comedy while enchanting audiences with captivating puppetry.”

“We love Buffalo 8. Nikki and her team get our film, and its potential to reach a broad audience. We’re beyond excited to partner with them,” Roberts added in a statement.

The film had its world premiere at the Austin Film Festival. A trailer unveiled a head of the film’s world premiere at the festival gives a closer look at the alien puppet hijinks that will ensue.

One thing is for certain, Invaders from Proxima B will showcase a new side to Sloyan’s work, who’s recent work in Mike Flanagan’s “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “Midnight Mass,” and “The Midnight Club” have seen the actor in more antagonistic roles.

As always, stay tuned for more news on this project as they arrive.
