‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ – First Images Spotlight Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn and a Feline Friend
Paramount is taking us back to A Quiet Place with the upcoming prequel movie A Quiet Place: Day One, which is set to expand the universe of John Krasinski’s hit horror franchise.
While we wait for the movie’s first trailer – it’s rumored to be coming during the Super Bowl this Sunday! – Entertainment Weekly has shared two first-look images this morning.
EW details the upcoming spinoff movie’s prequel storyline, “Lupita Nyong’o stars as Sam, a woman who’s on a day trip to New York City when the monsters arrive.
“As everything quickly goes to hell, she’s thrown together with a man named Eric (Joseph Quinn). With some reluctance, the pair agree to navigate and survive the city together.”
As for the cat, it belongs to Nyongo’s Sam. And its name is Frodo. EW also reveals that Djimon Hounsou, who appeared in A Quiet Place Part II, will reprise his role in Day One.
A Quiet Place: Day One will make noise in theaters on June 28, 2024.
Lupita Nyong’o (Us), Joseph Quinn (“Stranger Things”) and Alex Wolff (Hereditary) star. Michael Sarnoski (Pig) is headed to A Quiet Place to direct the brand new movie.
The spinoff is based on an original idea by John Krasinski and Michael Sarnoski, and it was written by Sarnoski. Meanwhile, it’s expected that the Abbott family storyline will become a trilogy with Krasinski recently teasing that he has ideas for the third film in the main series.
John Krasinski will produce alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller via Platinum Dunes. A Quiet Place Part II opened to $57 million at the domestic box office in May 2021 and has earned $297 million worldwide, making it easy to see why this franchise is expanding.

‘Hold the Fort’ Trailer Pits New Homeowners Against an Onslaught of Monsters
Sunrise Films has announced the official North American release of William Bagley‘s horror comedy Hold the Fort, and it’s accompanied by an energetic new trailer.
Hold the Fort debuts on digital platforms on June 23.
In the film, “Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their new house comes with a big catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride.“
Watch the new trailer below, which introduces one wild HOA gathering during an equinox. Things get bloody fast.
Chris Mayers (Adult Swim Yule Log), Haley Leary (“The Walking Dead”), Levi Burdick, and Julian Smith star.
William Bagley writes and directs, in addition to producing with Smith, Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, and Tim Reis (Adult Swim Yule Log).
Ahead of the release, Bagley said, “My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.“
Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.
I wrote in my review, “It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.”
