Nominated for eleven Oscars including Best Motion Picture of the Year, director Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things is now available for Digital rental and purchase at home. You can expect the Blu-ray release on March 12, and we’ve learned the film is also headed to Hulu.

Poor Things will begin streaming on Hulu Thursday, March 7, just a few days before we find out how many Academy Awards the Emma Stone-starring film takes home.

This year’s Oscars ceremony airs on Sunday, March 10.

At the box office, the awards recognition and positive word of mouth drove Poor Things to an incredible $100 million worldwide, a huge success story for arthouse cinema at large.

Emma Stone stars alongside Willem Dafoe in Poor Things from Yorgos Lanthimos (The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Dogtooth), a Frankenstein-like tale based on the 1992 novel by Alasdair GrayRamy YoussefJerrod CarmichaelChristopher Abbott, and Mark Ruffalo also star.

Lanthimos’ latest tells “the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.”

Poor Things has been rated “R” for “Strong and pervasive sexual content, graphic nudity, disturbing material, gore, and language.”

Stone previously starred in Lanthimos’ ruthless period comedy The Favourite, marking a reunion between the actor, director, and screenwriter Tony McNamara (“The Great,” Cruella).

Meagan wrote in her 5-star review for Bloody Disgusting, “Poor Things’ dedication to bluntly exploring the weirdest quirks of humanity, from infancy to adulthood, is the precise type of strange cinema that mainstream audiences will find off-putting. Yet through Stone’s audacious performance and Lanthimos’ awe-inducing approach, Poor Things fearlessly and humorously champions the magic of curiosity that’ll reward adventurous movie lovers.”

‘MaXXXine’ – Mia Goth Takes Hollywood in New Image from Ti West’s Sequel

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
