David Harbour Confirms ‘Violent Night 2’ is Happening Soon in Perfect Holiday Style

Violent Night 2 filming soon?

While a sequel to Tommy Wirkola’s action-thriller Violent Night was confirmed almost two years ago, updates have been scarce. That’s likely about to change. David Harbour delivered a holiday treat on Instagram that seems to confirm that Violent Night 2 is gearing up to shoot next year.

Harbour posted a picture with Santa Claus and a caption that reads, “Merry Xmas, ya filthy animals.” But it’s what’s in his hand that’s most intriguing: the script for Violent Night 2.

In Violent Night, “A team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (Harbour) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.”

Last we heard, Pat Casey and Josh Miller will be back to write Violent Night 2. “There’s stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves, returning director Tommy Wirkola noted last year. “But story-wise, I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”

Violent Night producer Kelly McCormick previously shared, “But the development’s going super well and everybody’s really, really excited about moving those worlds forward. McCormick also teased that filming on the sequel would likely begin production early next year. Harbour’s post on socials seems to confirm that those plans are on schedule.

John Leguizamo, Beverly D’Angelo (Christmas Vacation), Alex Haskell and Alexis Louder also starred in Violent Night, featured alongside Edi Patterson and Cam Gigandet.

I wrote in my review for BD, “Director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) infuses his gore-soaked sense of humor into an amalgamation of familiar holiday fare, ushering a new crowd-pleasing Christmas-set actioner eager to splatter the snow red.”

Stay tuned for developments on Violent Night 2.

Brad Dourif Teases New ‘Chucky’ Movie Will Be Unlike Anything Fans Expect

New Chucky Movie

Don Mancini is hard at work scripting a brand new Chucky movie, which will take the franchise is an unexpected new direction according to the voice behind killer doll Chucky.

Don’t expect the new film to pick up from where the series left off, Academy Award nominee Brad Dourif teased at the Creep I.E. Cinema panel hosted by Bloody Disgusting this weekend.

If I know Don, I would say what he’s going to do is something completely different that I hadn’t thought of, that nobody had thought of,” the actor tells the audience.

It’s worth noting that the upcoming film is still in early development. So much so that Dourif has heard multiple different ideas for the ninth film in Mancini’s Chucky universe. “There is actually going to be another film made,’ Dourif explains, “I’ve heard maybe three pitches —that’s not a detail, and I’m not saying what they are—but they’re all different.

Emmy nominee Fiona Dourif was on hand to prevent her dad from spoiling any plot details, of course.

As we reported back in April, Don Mancini is aiming to make Chucky scary again in the brand new Chucky movie that will finally bring the (original) killer doll back to the big screen. Mancini’s plan is to return the franchise to the tone of Curse of Chucky as well as the first two original Child’s Play movies, once again dialing back the comedy and hijinks.

Brad Dourif voiced Chucky in all of the original Child’s Play movies as well as more recent installments Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky, and all three seasons of the TV series. And Dourif doesn’t plan on giving the character to anyone else anytime soon. He recently told the crowd at Spooky Empire, “Nobody’s doing Chucky but me.”

Stay tuned for more updates on all things Chucky.
