Hungry Review

Madison Davenport (It’s What’s Inside, “From Dusk till Dawn: The Series”) is attacked by a hippo in the first image from Hungry, courtesy of Deadline.

The survival thriller centers on a group of holidaymakers who must fight for their lives against a rampaging hippo on the loose after becoming lost in the Louisiana swamplands.

Davenport stars with Joaquim de Almeida (Desperado), Tracey Bonner (Greenland), Jim Meskimen (“Parks and Recreation”), Samantha Coughlan (Arcadian), Olivia Bernstone (Fighting with My Family), Michel Curiel (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”), and River Codack (“Happy Face”).

James Nunn (Shark Bait) writes and directs. Ben Jacques (The Strangers: Prey at Night) produces, with Signature Films’ Marc Goldberg and Sarah Gabriel executive producing.

The film features makeup effects designed by Dan Martin (Infinity Pool, Color Out of Space) with special effects supervised by Kenneth Cassar of Extreme Effects (The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Jurassic World: Dominion) and visual effects from Magic Dust VFX (“True Detective: Night Country,” “One Piece”).

Capture will continue sales at this week’s European Film Market in Berlin.

“We are beyond excited to introduce a new animal apex killer to the film market, one that has been overlooked and underestimated despite its colossal stature and its ferocity,” said Ella Field, EVP of International Sales at Capture. “A new – very real – fear will be unlocked for all those attending the screening.”

Hungry has already sold in Spain (A contracorriente), Latin America (CDC), the Middle East (Phoenicia), Eastern Europe (Daro), the Baltics (Garsu Pasaulio Irasai), Israel (Shoval), India (Lionsgate Play), Malaysia & Singapore (Suraya), Thailand (Sahamongkol), Philippines (Pioneer), Turkey (Tanweer), Mongolia (FilmBridge), and CIS (Exponenta).
