Actor and filmmaker Luke Barnett, who has made a name for himself with incredible shorts including The Crossing Over Express, is next joining forces with Fangoria Studios.
Variety announces this morning that Fangoria and Luke Barnett have teamed up for Barnett’s next short Goodbye, Monster, which Barnett will star in as well as direct.
Here’s the heartwarming plot synopsis for Luke Barnett’s Goodbye, Monster: “Wilson, a 12-year-old boy, receives one final visit from the creature under his bed.”
Variety’s report further previews, “The short continues Barnett’s signature blend of empathy, emotional storytelling, and genre craft.”
The upcoming horror short also stars Kue Lawrence, Patton Oswalt and Tina Majorino.
“Luke is someone we’ve watched make incredible choices over the past few years with his shorts, and we knew we wanted to be part of what he’s creating,” said Fangoria’s Tara Ansley.
“For anyone who loves horror, Fangoria is sacred ground,” said Barnett. “They’re champions of practical effects, fearless storytelling, and filmmakers who take big swings.”
Goodbye, Monster will indeed feature old school practical effects, with the creature makeup designed by Dan Crawley (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Terrifier 3).
Also coming soon from the world of Luke Barnett is Epilogue, a feature that Barnett co-wrote. Kate Siegel and David Dastmalchian will star, with Mike Flanagan producing.
Set one year after the zombie apocalypse has supposedly come to an end, Epilogue will follow a desperate couple who set out to find a cure for their infected daughter.
