Sorority Row screenwriter Josh Stolberg has been intermittently discussing a sequel to his remake of The House on Sorority Row for a year now, and it seems an official announcement is finally on its way.
“You’ll be hearing news very, very soon,” Stolberg shared on Twitter. “Exciting!”
Stolberg previously teased that several actors from the 2009 movie will reprise the roles. That cast included Briana Evigan, Leah Pipes, Rumer Willis, Jamie Chung, Margo Harshman, Audrina Patridge, and the late Carrie Fisher.
Sorority Row follows a group of sorority sisters who cover up the accidental death of a fellow sister after a prank goes horribly wrong. Eight months later, a masked killer begins stalking and murdering the girls on the night of their graduation.
The Stuart Hendler-directed film grossed $27 million worldwide against a $12.5 million budget for Lionsgate.
Matt Donato wrote in his Revenge of the Remakes column, “Sorority Row feels ahead of its decade in how it subverts slasher expectations like women being helpless fawns and men getting away with sleazy behavior as locker room heroes.”
Since Sorority Row, Stolberg and writing partner Pete Goldfinger have penned the likes of Piranah 3D, Jigsaw, Spiral, and Saw X.
