CinemaCon will kick off with a bang, as the first footage from Godzilla Minus Zero will premiere at the Las Vegas event on April 14.
Hosted by distributor GKIDS, the presentation will open CinemaCon’s “State of the Industry” program at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Academy Award-winning Godzilla Minus One writer-director-VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki will take the main stage to introduce an exclusive sneak peek at his sequel.
As is the case with most CinemaCon presentations, the footage is not expected to be released online.
“The future strength of our industry depends on a year-round diverse slate of films that speaks to audiences around the world,” said Michael O’Leary, CEO of Cinema United, which hosts the convention. “GKIDS exemplifies a commitment to diverse moviegoing choices.”
“We are longtime champions of the importance of the shared theatrical experience,” added GKIDS president David Jesteadt. “We believe there’s no better place to kick off Yamazaki-san’s Godzilla Minus Zero than at CinemaCon with the folks who present that movie magic on the big screen: the cinema owners.”
Godzilla Minus Zero will open in Japan on November 3 via Toho, with GKIDS launching a wide North American release on November 6.
Up next from Yamazaki is Grandgear for J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, which will mark the Japanese filmmaker’s first English-language feature.
