The star of Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, Gabriel LaBelle is headed into the horror genre with the upcoming “darkly comedic” thriller Not Safe for Life, Variety reports.
Music video director Keith Schofield will direct the film Not Safe for Life.
Variety details, “Pitched as both a black comedy and a cyberpunk thriller, the film follows a man who takes on a group of internet trolls on a depraved online message board in order to defend the honor of a girl who doesn’t even know he exists.”
Caviar and Jon Watts’ label Freshman Year will produce.
Schofield said in a statement, “It’s the movie about the Internet I’ve been wanting to see my entire life and I still can’t believe we’re making. It’s going to be hilarious and terrifying and smart and stupid and loaded with sex and violence. My parents will be absolutely mortified.”
Producer Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car, Spider-Man: No Way Home) adds, “I’ve been a fan of Keith’s music video and commercial work for a long time and am thrilled to support his fresh cinematic vision as he takes this next step as a filmmaker.”
Not Safe for Life will film in Bulgaria later this month.
