The Adams Family — the DIY filmmaking family consisting of father John Adams, mother Toby Poser, and daughter Zelda Adams and Lulu Adams — have announced their next film: The Glorious Dead.
Poser stars in the apocalyptic monster movie as a small-town sheriff who wakes to find the world she believed in no longer exists. Zelda Adams plays her deputy.
The family unit described the project to Variety as a “new take on what the end of the world might look like — for those still living and those the grave can’t keep down.”
They add, “With practical effects in the form of meaty skin-monsters and the fetid holes from which they crawl, this is a story about Hell on Earth, taking The Word at its very word; told through one very, very bad day in the life of small-town Americana.”
The Glorious Dead will be featured as part of the Buyers Showcase at the Cannes Festival’s Frontières Platform, running May 16-17.
The Glorious Dead comes on the heels of Mother of Flies, which hit Shudder in January. The family unit’s previous indie horror features include Hell Hole, Where the Devil Roams, Hellbender, and The Deeper You Dig.
The Adams Family is also the subject of Blood & Guts, a documentary currently on the festival circuit.
