David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) has been cast in John Rambo, director Jalmari Helander‘s (Sisu, Rare Exports) prequel to the iconic action franchise.
Variety reports that Harbour plays Rambo’s commanding officer Major Trautman in the film, which recently wrapped production in Thailand.
Noah Centineo (Black Adam) stars as the one-man fighting force in the Vietnam-set origin story that dives deep into the roots and experiences that forged one of the big screen’s most enduring and complex characters.
Yao (Sinners), Jason Tobin (“Warrior”), Quincy Isaiah (“Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”), Jefferson White (“Yellowstone”), and Tayme Thapthimthong (“The White Lotus”) round out the cast.
Lionsgate will distribute the film, written by Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam, The Mauritanian).
Producers are Kevin King Templeton for Templeton Media, Les Weldon & Jonathan Yunger for Millennium Media, and Angela Russo-Otstot & Michael Disco for AGBO.
Franchise star Sylvester Stallone will executive produce alongside Anthony & Joe Russo, Trevor Short, and Dallas Sonnier & Amanda Presmyk for Bonfire Legend.
Harbour’s upcoming genre projects include Violent Night 2, in theaters December 4, and A Head Full of Ghosts, currently in production.
