Happy Death Day actress Jessica Rothe stars as a mom struggling to keep her grip on her sanity and memory in the mind-bending new trailer for Affection.
Brainstorm Media will release the film in select theaters on May 8, 2026.
In Affection, “Afflicted by a mysterious condition that resets her memory, Ellie becomes trapped in a cyclical nightmare with a man who claims to be her husband. She soon must uncover the horrifying truth of her existence—before she forgets it all again.“
Watch the new trailer below that introduces Rothe’s Ellie Carter, who has never met the man who calls himself her husband, doesn’t recognize the girl who calls her mother, and can’t remember the life she is told is her own. That’s before the mind-bending teases of horror ensue.

Joseph Cross (“Big Little Lies”) and Julianna Layne (“Chicago P.D.”) also star in the sci-fi horror thriller.
Affection marks the feature debut by writer/director BT Meza, who also produces with Bay Dariz, Austin Walk, and JP Ouellette.
Daniel Kurland wrote in his review out of the film’s Brooklyn Horror Film Festival premiere last fall, “Affection is steeped in existential questions and fears that plague modern society, while it embraces the ethos of the ’80s through bold body horror. Add to that Rothe’s revelatory performance, and Affection is a hidden gem that will connect with your mind, body, and soul.”
Jessica Rothe is fresh off the SXSW premiere of the sci-fi mystery Imposters. She’s also set to star with Jane Levy in Shudder’s survival slasher River.
