Before making a name for himself in comedy, Hokum star Adam Scott made his feature debut in 1996’s Hellraiser: Bloodline, the fourth installment in the horror franchise.
Despite his character suffering a gruesome death that included getting his face bitten off and his heart pulled out of his chest, Adam Scott decided to audition for a role in the 2002 sixth installment, Hellraiser: Hellseeker.
“My agent sent me an audition for Hellraiser 6, and I’m like, ‘Now, wait a second. I was in Hellraiser 4,” Scott told Seth Meyers during a recent ‘Late Night’ appearance. “But I need a job. So I’m like, ‘Screw it,’ and I go to the audition just thinking, ‘Maybe they won’t notice that I was in Hellraiser 4.”
Scott recalled, “I remember being in the waiting room and seeing a door ajar to someone’s office and seeing a producer from Hellraiser 4 in the office, and just holding my papers up. Just, like, ‘Okay, if he doesn’t see me, and they think I do a good job, maybe I’ll get in Hellraiser 6 as well.’”
Alas, it did not come to pass. Scott and Myers joke that he failed to land the role not because of continuity confusion but due to his acting.
Serving as both a prequel and a sequel, Hellraiser: Bloodline chronicles the struggle of one family who unknowingly created the puzzle box that opened the door of Hell. Scott plays Jacques, an assistant to an aristocrat in 1796 Paris who is killed by the cenobite Angelique.
Currently enjoying the success of Hokum, Scott will soon be gearing up to shoot the third season of Apple TV’s “Severance.”
