Production has commenced in Rhode Island on the teen horror film My Boyfriend Is a Demon, and Deadline has revealed the cast.
Notably, it features Scream icon David Arquette, his sister Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), and David’s daughter, Coco Arquette, along with Scream VI‘s Jack Champion.
The ensemble also includes Mattias Ferrell (son of Will Ferrell), Ever Anderson (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter), Bailey Sloan, influencer Vinnie Hacker, Josephine Reitman (daughter of Jason Reitman), Savannah Lee Smith (“Gossip Girl”), Lisa Yamada (“Cruel Summer”), and former NFL cornerback Ty Law.
My Boyfriend Is a Demon follows Mary, a lonely, small-town girl who, in an effort to gain the acceptance and friendship of her peers, creates a “finsta” account for a nonexistent, seemingly perfect guy, appearing to be her boyfriend. After apparently manifesting a little too hard, her new beau suddenly shows up at her door.
Mononymous writer-director mishka makes her feature debut on the project.
Chad A. Verdi, Chad Verdi Jr., Paul Luba, Michelle Verdi, and Sera Verdi are producing for Verdi Productions, with Ketchup Entertainment and Kinolime executive producing.
“This cast is a perfect balance of veterans from major studio franchises such as Scream and Avatar alongside exciting emerging talent poised to become the next generation of movie stars,” said Chad A. Verdi. “mishka’s script connects with young audiences in a way that feels fresh, authentic, and culturally relevant.”
