Arachnophobes beware: the new trailer for spider horror movie Crawlers will make your skin crawl.
Previously known as Arachnid, the horror film will be released in theaters nationwide on October 16 via Roadside Attractions and Saban Films. The film was previously dated for October 2, so adjust your calendars.
Matilda Lutz (Revenge) stars as Serena, the overworked and underappreciated manager of the Paradiso Palms apartment complex who finds herself inundated by lethal eight-legged critters. The new trailer below even unlocks a new fear: accidentally swallowing them while you sleep.
In Crawlers, “a catastrophic infestation of venomous and deadly spiders sends an apartment building into lockdown. Trapped inside by a police-mandated quarantine, building manager Serena (Lutz) and her residents battle to survive as the creatures multiply by the second. Armed with her intimate knowledge of the complex, Serena may be the only one who can keep them alive—if she can confront her deepest fear.”
Angel Gómez Hernández (Don’t Listen) directs from a script by Jayson Rothwell (Polar, Silent Night).
Crawlers marks the first feature from Badlands, the new collaboration between Basil Iwanyk & Erica Lee’s Thunder Road (John Wick, Sicario) and longtime studio executive Scott Strauss (Resident Evil, Underworld).
“Crawlers is a uniquely visceral horror experience that gets under your skin in the best way possible. It’s a true, unapologetic genre film that delivers the kind of squirm-in-your-seat, racing-heart moments that horror fans live for,” said Saban co-presidents Shanan Becker and Jonathan Saba. “It masterfully blends edge-of-your-seat thrills with the high-octane fun we’ve come to expect from the producers of John Wick.”
