Mike Flanagan and his label Red Room Pictures have come on board to produce an upcoming horror movie titled Rot, and Deadline has the exclusive scoop for us this afternoon.
Alexandra Magistro will make her feature directorial debut with the psychological body horror movie Rot, which has a cast including Matthew Lillard (“Carrie”), Amber Midthunder (“Carrie”), and Cooper Koch (“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”).
The film is being described as “Repulsion by way of David Cronenberg.”
Geo Bradley wrote the screenplay for Rot, which was featured on the Black List.
Deadline details, “An official logline wasn’t given. But per the Black List, the story follows an antisocial man suffering from obsessive compulsions who is haunted by the death of his hoarder mother. The man takes on work as a trauma cleaner in hopes of facing his past, but the job soon begins to infest and unravel his mental state.”
Alexandra Magistro is an executive at Flanagan’s Red Room Pictures, producing “The Fall of the House of Usher,” The Life of Chuck, and Mike Flanagan’s upcoming The Exorcist movie.
