Thanks to Apple TV’s new adaptation of Cape Fear, a lot of audiences have been revisiting Martin Scorsese‘s 1991 movie, in which Robert De Niro starred as Max Cady. The cast of that version is what helped make it such a success, as De Niro squared off against Nick Nolte, as well as Jessica Lange. Cape Fear marks one of Nolte’s few appearances in a genre film, despite starring in an adaptation of Peter Benchley‘s The Deep back in 1977. Luckily, Nolte is about to bring his gravitas to the new horror film Vested.
As confirmed by Deadline, Nolte stars alongside Milo Gibson in the new horror movie, which just wrapped production. While a movie like Cape Fear might be described as a thriller by some, as opposed to outright horror, the description of the new project sounds more firmly rooted in horror.

The movie is described, “Set in a remote, decaying mountain town, Vested follows a fractured family bound by an inherited legacy of violence and secrecy. When a series of brutal deaths expose a hidden bloodline curse tied to the full moon, two estranged brothers are forced to confront their past—and their father—before the violence consumes them all.”
Vested was written by The Michaels (Michael Mitton & Micheal Bafaro) alongside Jay Stamatis and Edmond Giovanni Coisson, with Bafaro also directing.
Even if Vested doesn’t outright claim to be a movie about werewolves, there are only so many curses that are tied directly to a full moon. Based on this first look, we shouldn’t necessarily anticipate seeing Nick Nolte embrace his more feral side, but whether he’s hunting lycanthropes or becoming one, Nolte brings with him significant on-screen presence. Of course, all of us who saw his work in Ang Lee‘s Hulk witnessed how fearless he was in its finale, so Nolte is long overdue for embracing his wilder side.
There is currently no release date for Vested.
