There’s something in the woods in the trailer for found footage horror Creature of the Pines, and it’s calling out.
The Screambox exclusive begins streaming on October 13.
The found footage horror film follows “a skeptical documentary team into the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Tasked with investigating a series of mysterious vanishings, the crew relies on interviews and field research to uncover the local lore.
But as they venture deeper into the wilderness, the legend begins to close in on them, turning their production into a terrified struggle for survival against something that has been watching them all along.”
Chris Ruppert & Tyler Transue write and direct. Greg Poppa, Eric Melaragni, Austin Green, and Kelly Warren star. The horror film arrives on streaming after making its festival premiere earlier this year at Panic Fest.
Watch the trailer below that calls Blair Witch to mind with its wooded setting and ill-fated documentary team. But teases of a cryptid and the specificity of setting hint toward a different story ahead. The New Jersey Pine Barrens, also known as the Pines, is a protected ecosystem that is the site of many legends, tales, and mythical creatures, from the Jersey Devil to the White Stag. It’s the ideal setting for a horror movie, but less so for the wayward characters venturing into the woods.
