‘Dead Format’ Teaser Trailer – Retro Horror Movie Takes You Back to the Video Store Era of the 1990s

Director Mike Lombardo debuted on the scene with I’m Dreaming of a White Doomsday back in 2017 and he’s back this year with Dead Format, a brand new retro nightmare.

From Reel Splatter Productions, in association with GenreBlast Films, Dead Format will be hitting the festival circuit next year, and we’ve got the first-look teaser trailer to whet your appetite.

The filmmakers tell Bloody Disgusting, “Dead Format is a melancholy and atmospheric dramatic horror film that deals with grief, nostalgia, and VHS tapes; all set during the death of video stores and the last gasps of ’90s culture.” Exclusively watch the teaser below.

Here’s the official synopsis: “During the final days of the video store era, a collector desperately clinging to the past while grieving his father’s death finds a mysterious tape at his local video store and discovers that nostalgia can come at a terrible price.”

Dead Format is written by Lombardo and Nathan D. Ludwig, adapted from Lombardo’s short story of the same name which first appeared in the collection, Please Don’t Tap on The Glass and Other Tales of The Melancholy and Grotesque. The film is produced by Ludwig, Lombardo, Samantha Kolesnik, Pat Dougherty, and New York Times best-selling author Brian Keene.

Dead Format stars Mark Worth, Joey Cook, Austin Greene, Fia Thomson, Mia Grichendler, Henry Sirota, Chet Williamson, Matt Lake, Margot Starlux, and Sable Griedel.

A small, second crowd funder for post production sound for Dead Format has gone live on Indiegogo in conjunction with the release of this trailer. Learn more and get involved while you can!
