Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 vampire drama Bram Stoker’s Dracula is one of my favorite depictions of the infamous vampire. Gary Oldman played the role with grace, charm, intensity, and a vast palette of emotions that gave his character a depth rarely seen before.
While I could speak for a long, long time about my love of this film, I want to focus on the theme, written by composer Wojciech Kilar (The Ninth Gate). Driving and epic, the music is the perfect representation of the film, embodying the chase of this immortal beast. It’s, in my opinion, one of the greatest movie themes ever composed, if not one of the most memorable.
Today, YouTube cover artist 331ERock has posted a metal version of the theme, which he packed to the brim with distortion, blistering solos, and enough heavy metal drums to make any neck suffer whiplash from headbanging.
