As long-time supporters of the horror genre and the synthwave movement, we’re extremely proud and excited to premiere the track “Darker Skies” performed by artist Mega Drive. The new track is taken from the forthcoming Hollydoom—Original Magazine Soundtrack which will be released by Lakeshore Records in partnership with Fangoria to celebrate the return of the iconic magazine. Hollydoom contains ten synth-based tracks including classic favorites from John Carpenter and Carpenter Brut as well as originals from Power Glove, Gunship and more. “Darker Skies” bristles with sinister energy that effectively captures the dark vibe of the horror film genre.
“It’s a big honor to be a part of the Fangoria compilation! As a kid, I, like most other children, grew up on a slew of horror movies so anytime I was in a grocery store or bookstore, I would inevitably be drawn to the cover of FANGORIA (it always had the best covers) with its iconic film strip on the front which I swear could be spotted a mile of away! I spent a good deal of time flipping through its pages, marveling at the grotesque puppetry and awesome bloody special effects from a plethora of terrifying yet exhilarating horror flicks. So as a long time horror fan, I’m very happy FANGORIA is back to creep out and inspire a whole new generation of horror lovers.” – Mega Drive
FANGORIA’s team handpicked artists that have made it their life’s work to tell stories and create atmosphere through the music they write. Each track on HOLLYDOOM will set the listener’s imagination free to roam into the dark unknown. HOLLYDOOM is available for preorder now on iTunes and other outlets, with an available digital release date of January 11th, 2019. The soundtrack will be released on vinyl later in the year.
