Hits Daily Double is reporting that Slayer’s “World Painted Blood” is tracking to sell between 35-40,000 units in sales in the US, guaranteeing the band another Top Ten album on the Billboard charts. Back in 2006 Slayer’s last album “Christ Illusion” hit #5 in the US beating out “Divine Intervention”, which had debuted at #8 in 1994. You can hear the title track on their MySpace.
“World Painted Blood” also debuted at #9 in Australia, #7 in Germany, #16 in New Zealand, and #41 in the United Kingdom. Slayer brings back the thrash with this album but it still falls short in the riffage department compared to previous efforts like “Reign In Blood”. “World Painted Blood” is still a solid release and a must buy for Slayer fans.
