Finally, The Game That Could Redefine Horror! Shadows Of The Damned!
Tokyo Game Show. Video game heaven. Adam Dodd has been chatting about this mystery horror game being worked on for a while now. He even dedicated an entire epic article about the “Game That Could Redefine Horror”. Well after FOREVER of waiting, it’s here. Shadows Of The Damned. Check out the trailer below.
The game is being created from 3 masterminds. Executive director Suda51 (director of No More Heroes), creative producer Shinji Mikami (director of Resident Evil) and music composer Akira Yamaoka (sound director of Silent Hill). Doesn’t get much better than that. The game is looking to be released next summer on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Head past the break for more info and screens. In Shadows Of The Damned you play a demon hunter who must save his lady seemingly from hell, by fighting darkness with light. Sound familiar? Like, Splatterhouse meets Alan Wake meets Dante’s Inferno? Not even close. I would say closer to Resident Evil meets The Darkness.
Your character known as Garcia gets his love stolen away from him by the demons he has pissed off and he must rescue her. Though he is a tough total badass, he still must fight demons in hell, which would be tough for anyone really. The game promises ‘demented’ puzzles, lots of sweet weapons, sick monsters and lots of scary heart pounding action. And I don’t doubt that at all.
“We are excited to finally take the cover off our latest project and invite gamers from around the globe to experience this new, warped world we have created,” said Goichi Suda, CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture. “By partnering with EA, a publisher that truly shares our commitment to quality and innovation, we have been able to develop Shadows of the Damned according to our ambitious vision while creating an entertainment property we believe will appeal to a global audience.”
“With Shadows of the Damned, gamers will fight for love in the most difficult arena imaginable … hell,” said Shinji Mikami, Creative Producer of Shadows of the Damned. “Players will find themselves surrounded by demons set on destroying their heart and soul. Only the strong will survive.”

McDonald’s No-Clips Out of Reality with Unexpected ‘Backrooms’ Short Movie
The best part about engaging with collaborative genre fiction on the internet is that anyone can get in on the action, with worldwide accessibility often resulting in absurd story beats that wouldn’t be possible if any single person was responsible for the entire narrative. And while Kane Parsons’ Backrooms film is definitely the young filmmaker’s own unique take on the infamous creepypasta, it’s fun to see other creators join the Backrooms sandbox now that the big screen adaptation is getting ready for a record-shattering opening weekend.
As if cleverly timed releases like Puppet Combo’s The Backrooms game weren’t enough (not to mention that Scary Movie poster poking fun at Parsons’ flick), McDonald’s official social media accounts have now released an analog horror video of their own celebrating the liminal terrors of the McRooms – complete with a familiar purple surprise at the end of the footage.
While it’s funny enough to see the world’s most recognizable Fast Food giant engage with internet-borne Found Footage thrills seemingly out of the blue, the video is actually referencing a long-running gag among the Backrooms fandom where creators jokingly talk about there being a fully functional McDonald’s restaurant hidden somewhere in level 0 of the infamous liminal labyrinth.
Now, would it be too much to hope for a moist-carpet-flavored McShake to tie in with the film?
Backrooms is now playing only in theaters from A24.
