Sequel Talk: ‘Quarantine’ and ‘Poughkeepsie Tapes’
Last week we had breakfast with John and Drew Dowdle to chat about their forthcoming studio horror film, Quarantine, which hits theaters October 10th. The conversation was short so we hit ’em up later with a few other questions. First, there is still not solid talk about QUARANTINE becoming a franchise, we’ll have to see how this one does first. MGM is still saying they’ll be releasing The Poughkeepsie Tapes in mid/late November. Lastly, the brothers still would like to turn TAPES into a franchise, once again pending on how well the initial release is. Click the title for more info on both films.

When nurse Julia finds herself trapped inside the home of her dementia patient, she begins to suspect things are not what they seem; something demonic is seeping through the cracks of this old home. Trapped and with nowhere to turn, Julia soon finds herself in battle to rid the house of this evil before it is too late.

“This film depicts the most harrowing 90 minutes of our protagonist’s life, and I felt that the most visceral way to really feel this was to do a single-shot film,” O’Brien previously teased. “We are with her every step and misstep she takes – through the unraveling of the mystery to the horror of her discovery. It’s a fun, twisty roller-coaster ride that puts a new spin on exorcisms.”
Bury the Devil is the first installment in a planned trilogy. The prequel, Bury the Devil: Origin, is already in development with O’Brien returning to the helm.
O’Brien produces along with Philip Kalin-Hajdu (The Sacrifice Game) and Benoit Beaulieu (Turbo Kid).
