Trailer Debut: Get Mind-F*cked With ‘Pop Skull’!
I love an indie film, especially one that cost next to nothing to make and turns out this f*ckin’ good. Today we got an exclusive first look at the official trailer for Halo-8’s Pop Skull (review), a micro-budget horror-thriller that is one helluva trip. The film is currently slated for a string of theatrical events (tied in with similarly demented Halo-8 upcoming releases GODKILLER and IN A SPIRAL STATE) followed by a DVD release on July 28, 2009.
“POP SKULL, a manic, twisted, drug-infused and award-winning psychological horror film directed & co-written by Adam Wingard (“HOME SICK”), starring & co-written by newcomer Lane Hughes, co-written and co-produced by E.L. Katz (“AUTOPSY”), and produced by Peter Katz (“MORTUARY”), depicts the lonely and disjointed life of Daniel, a young Alabama pill addict, as his efforts to cope with the trials of his day-to-day life collide with the increasing influence of murderous and displaced spirits that inhabit his home. Plagued by ghosts, Daniel discovers his home holds a secret to a grisly crime… a crime he’s doomed to repeat if he can’t prevail against the forces that haunt him.”

POP SKULL premiered domestically at the AFI Film Festival and internationally at the Rome Film Festival before playing the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Leeds International Film Festival, San Diego Film Festival, San Francisco Independent Film Festival, and New Zealand International Film Festival. It was awarded grand jury prizes at the Indianapolis International Film Festival and the Boston Underground Film Festival.
Halo-8 Entertainment (www.halo8.tv) is a Hollywood-2.0 movie studio using bleeding-edge strategies to create and distribute daring new films and alternative-culture lifestyle videos. Recent and upcoming releases include the megapopular animated series XOMBIE: DEAD ON ARRIVAL (which Bloody Disgusting called “one of the best online animated series to date”), the award-winning hardcore-punk thriller THREAT (which Urb Magazine said “makes KIDS look like an after-school special”), the legendary NY hardcore documentary N.Y.H.C. (which Cinematical called “smashing… a terrific, well-told, engaging story”), and the upcoming mindbendingly surreal, dystopic ‘illustrated film’ GODKILLER.

‘Bury the Devil’ Trailer Unfurls Real-Time Possession Horror in Single Continuous Take
One night. One house. One horrifying experience. Nothing stays buried forever in Bury the Devil, a real-time exorcism movie told in a single, continuous take.
We’re exclusively unveiling the new trailer and key art for the real-time nightmare below, ahead of the film’s release in select theaters and VOD on August 21.
Adam O’Brien (Mom) directs from a script by John Petrizzi and Brad Hodson.
When nurse Julia finds herself trapped inside the home of her dementia patient, she begins to suspect things are not what they seem; something demonic is seeping through the cracks of this old home. Trapped and with nowhere to turn, Julia soon finds herself in battle to rid the house of this evil before it is too late.
Dawn Ford, Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez, Bill Rowat, and Mark Antony Krupa star.
“This film depicts the most harrowing 90 minutes of our protagonist’s life, and I felt that the most visceral way to really feel this was to do a single-shot film,” O’Brien previously teased. “We are with her every step and misstep she takes – through the unraveling of the mystery to the horror of her discovery. It’s a fun, twisty roller-coaster ride that puts a new spin on exorcisms.”
Bury the Devil is the first installment in a planned trilogy. The prequel, Bury the Devil: Origin, is already in development with O’Brien returning to the helm.
O’Brien produces along with Philip Kalin-Hajdu (The Sacrifice Game) and Benoit Beaulieu (Turbo Kid).
