News Bits Day 3: Bearded Lady, Shaun of the Dead, T5 and more!

This has got to be quite possibly the most busy horror news week in ages. There are floods of new images, breaking news, interviews from Comic Con and more, meanwhile there are some small morsels of information, while not top story worthy, do deserve a little mention here on Bloody-Disgusting. Beyond the break you’ll find our THIRD news bits this week that features a look at Salma Hayek as a bearded lady, news on Terminator 5, an appearance of Shaun of the Dead at “Halloween Horror Nights” and more. We’ll update this through the day if anything new breaks.
HOT BEARDED LADY, OXYMORON

Below you’ll find your first look at Salma Hayek as a bearded lady in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, courtesy of EW.

Hayek costars as Madame Truska, the hirsute woman in a traveling freak show and girlfriend of the titular vampire (John C. Reilly). The fantasy, based on the popular young-adult books, follows a boy (Chris Massoglia) who becomes an apprentice to Reilly’s vamp. Hayek’s character sprouts whiskers every time she gets passionate with her boyfriend. “So she needs to be very comfortable with herself, which Salma really is in real life,” says director Paul Weitz (About a Boy). “I thought, of all people to have that problem, she’d be an interesting one.

TAKE A TRIP DOWN THE HOLE

Today a slew of behind-the-scenes videos were posted from the set of Joe Dante’s (Gremlins, The Howling) latest horror fantasy The Hole, which centers on two brothers who discover a mysterious hole in the basement that leads to their worst nightmares.

SHAUN OF THE HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS

“Halloween Horror Nights'” Creative Director John Murdy updated his Twitter with a little tease you folks in California are going to enjoy. Apparently, they’ve been designing some special walk-around character for the Halloween event taking place at Universal Studios Hollywood. “In case you were wondering…SHAUN is using a “child leash” to restrain ZOMBIE ED from eating our guests,” he writes showing the following image, which if you click will lead you to a gallery loaded with new concept art.

McG TAKES THE HEAT, BRINGS ON T5

I’m concurrently prepping Terminator 5, another Terminator picture. So, we’re cooking that up,” the director/producer tells IESB.net. “For me, it’s terribly exciting to get back out there and show a different face of that idea, and perhaps get out of the apocalyptic world and into a contemporary world. I think the audience is going to be very excited about our way in.” He continues taking about taking criticism, “You take your lumps, if they don’t like it, and you enjoy it a lot more when they do. We’ve all been on every side of that, and what can you do, but figure out what you did right and what you did wrong, look at it a little more closely, study the people that you look up to, and continue to evolve as a storyteller.
