‘The Horde’ Producers Get New ‘Territories’
Sure it was produced by Frontier(s) director Xavier Gens, but the French zombie flick The Horde is absolutely terrible. With that said, maybe the company behind it learned a lesson? Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned that next up on their slate is Territories, which is to be directed by Olivier Abbou from a screenplay by Thibault Lang-Willara. The new horror film pretty much rips off the entire opening of Platinum Dunes’ The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and follows similar beats. You can read our exclusive look at the synopsis below.
“Canada, near the US border. Jalil, Michelle, Gab, Leslie and Tom are driving back home after a wedding. A car blocks the road. Forces them to stop. It’s the border police. The officers check their ID. They seem suspicious. Their questioning slowly intensifies. In particular, the origins of Jalil seem to intrigue the officers. Bother them. As good citizens, the group stays calm. After all, they’ve done nothing wrong… Except that broken light… Except that pot found in the car…
Tension rises. Leslie tries to get Tom’s medication in the car. But the officers prevent her. The police check turns nasty. The group is cuffed. Leslie protests; as an answer, she gets an “intimate” body search in front of her friends. The officers then suspect their little dog is a drug mule…and they rip it open with a knife! The situation spirals out of control. Someone is shot. The group is arrested and sent to a special jail in the heart of the forest.
Cages are waiting for them. Along with questions. They’ll need to find answers. Or a way out.”

When nurse Julia finds herself trapped inside the home of her dementia patient, she begins to suspect things are not what they seem; something demonic is seeping through the cracks of this old home. Trapped and with nowhere to turn, Julia soon finds herself in battle to rid the house of this evil before it is too late.

“This film depicts the most harrowing 90 minutes of our protagonist’s life, and I felt that the most visceral way to really feel this was to do a single-shot film,” O’Brien previously teased. “We are with her every step and misstep she takes – through the unraveling of the mystery to the horror of her discovery. It’s a fun, twisty roller-coaster ride that puts a new spin on exorcisms.”
Bury the Devil is the first installment in a planned trilogy. The prequel, Bury the Devil: Origin, is already in development with O’Brien returning to the helm.
O’Brien produces along with Philip Kalin-Hajdu (The Sacrifice Game) and Benoit Beaulieu (Turbo Kid).
