Story of ‘Vlad’ the Impaler Won’t Touch on Vampirism
Here’s a little something that caught me off guard and still has me pondering how it will turn out; screenwriter Charlie Hunnam (and star of “Sons of Anarchy”) revealed to Entertainment Weekly that his script for Vlad has NO vampires in it. Instead, the feature will focus on the real-life story of Vlad the Impaler that inspired Bram Stoker. “As the script stands now, we don’t touch on vampirism,” he reveals to EW. “That was my one non-negotiable area when we were developing it, and thankfully, nobody suggested that we should delve into it at the end. But you can clearly see the things that Bram Stoker took…. Vlad was such a brutal man, and the trick is to make him sympathetic.” Talk about this below and read the full interview by clicking the link above. A creature wreaks havoc upon a community in Hope, from writer-director Na Hong-jin (The Wailing), and the new poster gives a closer look at the snarling beast.
The Korean monster movie will be released in theaters in the United States by NEON on September 9.

Set in the remote South Korean village of Hope Harbor, police chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae are called to find a mysterious creature that has wreaked havoc on the village.
In the nearby forest, a coterie of hunters, including Sung- ki, set out to track the beast and find themselves hunted instead. But all is not as it seems, and perceptions can be misleading.
What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, escalating through human conflict into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.
Hwang Jung-min (The Wailing), Zo In-sung (“Moving”), Hoyeon (“Squid Game”), Taylor Russell (Bones and All), Cameron Britton (“The Umbrella Academy”), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), and Michael Fassbender (Prometheus) star in Hope.
Hope had its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. The festival’s director, Thierry Fremaux, previously teased that Hope “constantly changes genres” to capture a story of “no part of history that’s ever been told before.”
