Wes Craven’s ‘Scream IV’ to Shoot in May, Will Direct Until He Drops Dead

Published

Anyone worried about Wes Craven retiring can go pick up tickets for the next 20 years. The horror icon tells the LA Times in a retrospective interview that he’ll be directing until the day he dies. “My goal is to die in my 90s on the set, say, ‘That’s a wrap,’ after the last shot, fall over dead and have the grips go out and raise a beer to me.” With that in mind, he hopes his next horror project will be Scream IV, the beginning of a potential new trilogy Dimension Films has slated to go behind camera in May. The article also suggests that My Soul to Take (formerly 25/7) should arrive in theaters this year. From Kevin Williamson, creator of the original Scream trilogy, the new film sees the return of cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, along with a group of new stars, who can hopefully stay alive long enough to figure out the new rules to this one-of-a-kind horror franchise.

From director Louis Leterrier (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”), the sci-fi horror thriller The Last House is coming to Netflix this summer, and the official trailer has arrived.

Greta Lee and Wagner Moura star in The Last House. “A family of four are suddenly sealed inside their home with no way out, and must work together to survive against both their dwindling resources and the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped.”

Watch the trailer below and find The Last House only on Netflix August 7.

This one looks similar to The End of Oak Street, which is coming to theaters one week later. Both films center on families trapped in their suburban neighborhoods with a mysterious sci-fi/horror threat prowling outside, so they should make for a good double feature this summer.

Riley Chung (Sunrise), Emma Ho (“The Expanse”), Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8), and Gabriel Barbosa (May December) also star in Netflix’s The Last House.

Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die) penned the script.

Leterrier produces alongside Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, & Kori Adelson and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Oly Obst. Executive producers include Thomas Benski, Cecile Gaget, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher, and Damian Anderson.
