Confirmed: Julianne Moore for ‘Seventh Son’ Witch
Legendary Pictures’ and Warner Bros. film The Seventh Son is another addition to the list of projects being hotly pursued by young talent.
With Jeff Bridges still in negotiations to play the key role of the Spook, aka Master Gregory, the lead roles of Tom and Alice have started to heat up, with helmer Sergei Bodrov conducting screen tests this week as well as assessing the chemistry between the contenders, reports Variety.
Thesps expected to test for the role of Tom include Sam Claflin, Caleb Landry-Jones and James Frecheville, while Imogen Poots, Felicity Jones, Alicia Vikander, Gabrielle Wild and Dianna Agron will test for the role of Alice.
Alex Pettyfer and Jennifer Lawrence had also shown interest in the project, but have since moved on, as Bloody Disgusting reported earlier this month.
Formerly known as “The Spook’s Apprentice,” the fantasy tale is adapted from Joseph Delaney’s young adult series about a 13-year-old who’s the seventh son of a seventh son and learns about wizardry from a forbidding spook.
Also exclusively reported right here on BD (March 19), Julianne Moore is also nearing a deal to play a witch.
Though no deals have yet been set, the plan is to still shoot the film sometime later this summer.
