[Random Cool] Video Edition: This is Halloween!

Published

on

Going viral in less than 24 hours, the above 2011 Halloween light show gives homage to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. It features four singing pumpkin faces, tombstones, hand-carved pumpkins, strobes, floods and thousands of lights. Most all lights have been changed from incandescent to RGB LED so power consumption is a lot less than previous years. Also DMX added to show. All lights, faces and props are custom made (DIY) by the poster except for the roof line which are CCRs. Controlling channels have gone up 8X from last year. 1144 channels. Light-O-Rama. Head to Riverside, CA to see in person.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg as after the break you’re going to find a slew of new horror-themed videos that rage from a classic ’70s Universal Studios commercial featuring Alfred Hitchcock to “Freddy vs Jason: The Rematch” and g4 Films’ “Mario Kart” horror short, “Kart Driver”. Discovered on an old umatic tape, below you’ll find a old Universal Studios commercial from the 1970’s that features the elusive Alfred Hitchcock (and a look at Jaws like you’ve never seen him before!)

Those of you addicted to claymation as much as I am will enjoy “Postman Pat’s Pet Sematary“, a gory retelling of the Stephen King classic.

I love a good fanmade horror film that brings the filmmakers’ favorite icons back to the screen. Such the case with Freddy vs Jason: The Rematch, which comes courtesy of the Beat Down Boogie crew. Featuring a cool battle between Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, the film stars Brian Lee and Matthew Sumner and was directed, shot and cut by Micah Moore.

G4 Films’ Epictober Film Festival rolls on today with the second short-horror film, “Kart Driver,” which takes the “Mario Kart” franchise on a darker, deadlier spin.

Fury and obsession leads a heroic plumber to seek out and bring home his damsel in distress, the girl of his dreams, even if it means facing off with a creature from the very bowels of hell. “Kart Driver” is directed by Drew Daywalt, a founding member of FEWDIO, the world’s first online Horror Troupe, dedicated to all things dark and fantastical. Tomorrow the G4 Films Epictober Film Festival concludes with “The Birds of Anger,” an homage to Hitchcock’s classic, The Birds with an “Angry Birds” twist.

Found footage franchise The Blair Witch Project is coming back to life with a new movie, and Lionsgate has announced today that the Blair Witch will return in 2027.

The Blair Witch Project releases in theaters on September 24, 2027.

Check out the cryptic release date announce video below…

Dylan Clark (Portrait of God) is set to direct the new take on the seminal found footage horror movie, with the original movie’s filmmakers and cast on board to produce the project.

Chris Thomas Devlin wrote the screenplay.

Original Blair Witch Project filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick, producer Gregg Hale, and stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams will executive produce.

Producer James Wan told Indiewire, “Getting all the original people that were involved in the original Blair Witch, getting their blessing and getting them involved. That was very important for all of us. We wanted to pay respect to the legacy of it all.”

Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Atomic Monster‘s James Wan are producing the new Blair Witch Project with Roy Lee and Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks & Greg Gilreath.

The official press release teases this week, “The horror masterminds at Blumhouse Atomic Monster (Obsession, The Conjuring, Backrooms) remind us how scary the woods can be with this groundbreaking new chapter of The Blair Witch Project.”

Executive producers also include Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Steven Schneider.

Much like David F. Sandberg, Curry Barker, and Kane Parsons before him, Dylan Clark was discovered on YouTube after going viral with his horror short Portrait of God. That short is already being expanded into a feature, with Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi producing.

Dylan Clark is also writing to direct an adaptation of his short film Story Time.
