Platinum Dunes Off Paramount’s ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ Remake

Published

on

First NEAR DARK, now the devil baby is being miscarried. While the announcement was premature in the first place, Platinum Dunes has now openly claimed that they are now not part of Paramount Pictures’ remake of Rosemary’s Baby. The 1968 horror film from legendary director Roman Polanski followed a young couple who move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life. Read on for the story. It was announced way back in March that Platinum Dunes would be remaking Polanski’s classic film. Now it looks like they hit a dead end in finding a story. Collider chatted with producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form for their forthcoming release of THE UNBORN and this is the the answer they received when asked about the remake.

We are not doing ROSEMARY’S BABY,” Andrew Form exclaimed.

No, no. I mean… ROSEMARY’S BABY was announced and it’s like a little bit like we’re taking about with Freddy,” Fuller adds. “We went down that road and we even talked to the best writers in town and it feels like it might not be do-able. We couldn’t’ come up with something where it felt like it was relevant and we could add something to it other than what it was so we’re now not going to be doing that film.

Just because Platinum Dunes isn’t remaking the film doesn’t mean Paramount Pictures has lost interest. Watch for any further updates as they come in.

Published

One of this summer’s most hotly anticipated new movies is A24 and Ti West’s MaXXXine, a follow-up to X and Pearl that brings Mia Goth’s title character into the 1980s.

With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in Hollywood, 1985. While you wait, check out a new image below courtesy of USA Today this week.

Releasing in theaters on July 5, 2024, MaXXXine is rated “R” for…

“Strong violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use.”

If you missed the official trailer, you can watch it right here.

Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon in MaXXXine.

Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”

Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.

Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
