[Random Cool] ‘Ghostbusters’ Sculptures, a Survival Guide for Zombies, ‘E.T.’ Toys and More

Published

Cracked is hosting a pretty hilarious list of “8 Zombie Apocalypse Survival Strategies (For Zombies)” that ranges from “Nutrition” to “Exercise” and “Self Defense”.

Not really horror, but awesome nonetheless, NECA announces that they have entered into an agreement with Universal Partnerships & Licensing to produce consumer products around the 30th Anniversary of the film E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial next year, reports Figures. Merchandise will include action figures, plush, toys, bobble heads, giftware, and more. Initial product launch will begin in March 2012. “We’re very excited to bring E.T. back to toy shelves and to new generations of fans and collectors worldwide,” said Randy Falk, Director of Product Development at NECA.

Sean Decker of Dreadcentral is asking the horror community as we approach October – our month of months – to unite for a good cause: to support local Los Angeles women battling breast cancer by giving a small donation, and to support the horror actresses who are supporting them. Be cool and donate, even if it’s only a $1.

The best of the best comes courtesy of Carl Lyon, who is going to need to sculpt some molds, spores, and fungus to place next to his insanely awesome Egon Spengler sculpture. He’s also working on one based on Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman! See images of both inside and then look at your empty shelves in rage. Don’t you wish you could adopt this guy?

In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.

Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).

The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”

Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”

Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
