Keiji Inafune’s Zombie Game With Ninjas Just Got A Hell Of A Lot More Exciting
Like surprises? I sure hope so, because this one’s a doozy. This is like asking Santa for a video game and waking up Christmas morning to see a zombified Ninja Gaiden waiting for patiently you under the tree. Just replace Santa with me — though really, wouldn’t you rather sit on my lap, anyway? — and the tree with Bloody Disgusting, and you have pretty much the same scenario. All this is a long-winded way of saying that zombie game with ninjas that Mega Man Keiji Inafune is taking the ninja part seriously. The game’s full name is Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, and before you ask: yes, this is a Ninja Gaiden spin-off.
In case your mind was just blown, don’t worry, this game has zombies that are more than willing to clean that up. More after the break.
Ninja Gaiden 3 was met with fairly lukewarm reviews, so this could very well end up being the breath of life this series so desperately needs. What makes this already incredibly exciting project even more amazing is it will be a collaboration between Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden) and Spark Unlimited (Lost Planet 3). That’s a lot of talent being put behind this title, so it better be good. No platforms have been confirmed yet, outside of a painfully cryptic confirmation that it will be coming to “consoles.” Well, that narrows down the field a bit, doesn’t it?
In case you missed it, here’s the teaser trailer revealed earlier this month:

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
