TV: Trio Of “Dexter” Featurettes; More “American Horror Story: Asylum” Returning Cast!

Emmy winner Eric Stonestreet has booked himself a return trip to FX’s “American Horror Story,” series creator Ryan Murphy told TVLine. In Season 1 of “AHS,” Stonestreet guest-starred as Derek, a psych patient who was terrified of urban legends such as “Piggy Man.” This time around, in an episode of “American Horror Story: Asylum,” which is set at a 1960s mental institution, Murphy says the actor will play a killer. “Heeeeere, piggy pig-pig…” “AHS: Asylum” premieres Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 10/9c.

“Dexter” returns September 30 with the show’s Season 7. Showtime has released three new featurettes that have been added inside. Episode 7.01: “Are You….?” “After witnessing her brother kill Travis Marshall, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) attempts to reconcile with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) while struggling to cover up their involvement with the murder. Meanwhile, Detective Mike Anderson has an unfortunate run-in, Quinn and Batista begin to make amends, and LaGuerta finds evidence that causes her to re-think the closed Bay Harbor Butcher case.

‘Drop’ – Violett Beane Joins the Cast of Christopher Landon’s New Thriller

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
