Feel Free To Gorge Yourself On This New ‘Bioshock Infinite’ Trailer And Ultimate Songbird Edition Details

Published

on

I’ll admit I’ve been getting a little worried about Bioshock Infinite after some key talent behind the title left Irrational Games — including AI lead Don Norbury and combat design director Clint Bundrick. It’s rarely good news when a game goes silent, but thankfully, this game has jumped back into the spotlight with a glorious new trailer and details on the incredibly tempting Songbird Edition. This special edition brings with it a 3-inch Murder of Crows vigor bottle keychain, a 5×7-inch lithograph by Jorge Lacera, a 25 millimeter, resin-cast Handyman figure, an art book, exclusive digital goods (digital soundtrack, avatar clothing, themes, etc.), and a beautiful 9.75-inch Songbird statue. Naturally, this is going to cost us an arm and a leg, but this might be worth the sacrifice.

The Ultimate Songbird edition will include all that for a $149.99 price tag, or you can grab the Premium edition that includes everything I mention, except the Songbird statue, for $79.99. Check out a picture of all the aforementioned special edition contents, as well as a gorgeous new trailer, after the jump.

Isn’t that Songbird statue scrumptious?

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
