6 Horror Films That Would Make Great Video Games!

Aliens

Can you believe we haven’t had a single decent Aliens game? How can you bugger up a video game based on a horror film that’s brimming with space marines, badass guns, and one of the most iconic monsters in movie history?

What makes this even more impressive is there have been a lot of Aliens games. There was Alien on the Atari 2600, four games based on the second film, three games based on Alien 3, the now infamous cock-up that was Aliens: Colonial Marines… the list goes on and on.

When I say I want an Aliens game, I mean I want a good game. I want a game that captures the fear those marines undoubtedly feel when they realize they’re being hunted by creatures that make Jurassic Park’s Velociraptors look like fucking teddy bears. Can you do that for me? Please?

Scream

Like all of the above, the fact that we haven’t seen this already blows my mind. For some reason, despite coming close to taking over the horror genre in films in the 80’s and 90’s, the slasher subgenre hasn’t seen much action in the realm of pixels and sprites.

Now, there’s every chance that Until Dawn could change that, but because we haven’t heard from that promising horror game in some time I’m going to go ahead and assume something’s wrong with it (cynical, I know). It’s also not entirely what I’m looking for. Until Dawn is a straight-up horror game; what I’m looking for is something closer to Scream.

I want the wit and self awareness that made that franchise so fresh. That’s something video games are sorely lacking, and it’s particularly bad when you look at this generation’s offering of horror games. Even still, I’m easy to please. Give me a decent slasher game, even a new Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street/Texas Chainsaw Massacre game, and I’ll satiated.
