Zach Cregger has stated that his upcoming Resident Evil movie is “much more focused on the weird creature stuff than the zombies,” but the trailers up to this point have only given us brief glimpses of those creatures. It’s clear that Sony wants us to be surprised when they appear on screen next month, but in the meantime they’ve given us a new TV spot with a fresh tease.
This brand new TV spot for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil popped up over the weekend, and it gives us our first look at a Zombie Dog/Cerberus from the upcoming video game adaptation.
While it at first appears to be a normal looking canine, it’s not long before the dog’s head bursts open and reveals it’s anything but man’s best friend. Watch the new Resident Evil spot below.
Based on the iconic video game franchise, Resident Evil opens in theaters and IMAX on September 18 via Sony. The film is being billed as “a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise” from the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger.
Austin Abrams (Weapons) stars as Bryan, a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in a non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.
Zach Cherry (“Severance”), Kali Reis (“True Detective: Night Country”), Paul Walter Hauser (“Black Bird”), and Johnno Wilson (“Twisted Metal”) round out the cast.
This latest TV spot also gives us our first look at Paul Walter Hauser in Resident Evil.
